Rules & Eligibility

Competition Deadline:

 

All submissions must be received from May 1 to August 31, 2024 (12 am Midnight, Korea Standard Time). No submissions received after this deadline will be considered.

 

Who May Enter:

• This competition is open to all students aged 10-18 around the world. Students who have graduated from high school at the time of submission are not eligible to participate in the competition.

• Proof of age, identity, and eligibility may be required for winning students.

• Competition divisions are based on student age at the time of entry:

            Junior Division: Ages 10-14

            Senior Division: Ages 15-18

• Participants can enter as individuals or teams (up to 5 members per team). A student who is submitting as an individual cannot submit as a team member, and a student submitting as a team member cannot submit as an individual.

• Team submissions must include names and contact information for all team members. All team members must meet age and other eligibility requirements. All team members must satisfy the age requirement for the submitted division. The eligible age is determined based on the student’s age at the time of the competition deadline.

• Students must choose only one category for their submission. Each student, whether as an individual or a team, is allowed only one submission.

 

How to Enter

 

• The entrance fee for the 2024 WAW Global Sustainability Competition is USD 20 (KRW 30,000) for either individual or team entries. However, this entry fee may be waived on a case-by-case basis for those students requiring a fee waiver. Students requesting the entry fee waiver should indicate their reasons for requesting a waiver during the application submission process. 

• Students must prepare all required materials and forms and submit them by email by the competition deadline. We will not accept any submissions by physical mail or personal delivery.

• All participants are required to provide contact information for their adult sponsors as well as the signed sponsor consent form.

• Any work that has been submitted to the WAW competition in previous years will not be considered for the 2024 WAW Global Sustainability Competition.

• All work must be original. We reserve the right to disqualify at any time any work found to be the result of plagiarism, including rescinding any award.  

• AI-generated works are not permitted and will be automatically disqualified.

• Submissions can be in English or Korean. Any submission in Korean must also include an English translation.
